Dr. Kim Carter
Veterinarian |
I was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and have been a beach baby
most of my life. I knew from the time I was 4 years old that I
wanted to be a "doggy doctor," and I tortured my poor
parents with lots of sick pigeons, lizards, frogs, and I drug
home every stray I could get my hands on. I graduated from high
school in the top five and received a scholarship to St. Petersburg
Junior College. After getting my Associate's Degree (which was
surprising with all the surfing, sailing, Para-sailing, life-guarding
and swimming that I was doing), I worked at Paradyne Corporation
as a computer programmer. After saving enough money and receiving
my Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of South Florida,
I was off to Gainesville to go to Veterinary Medical School. Wow,
I was excited!!! Living in a college town really agreed with me.
I made some of the best friends of my whole life. While in Gainesville,
I developed a love for running and still enjoy it to this day.
Currently, I live in an old re-modeled house with my dogs, Princess
Daphne, Ziggy (the old man), "The Bugman" (my Boston
terrier) and "The Chub" (my cat who runs the household).
I enjoy anything outdoors, but my favorite activities are: golfing,
surfing, gardening, horseback riding, and hiking with my dogs.
Daphne has been trained to carry a military pack and she hauls
a lot of equipment when we go camping.
Opening Nassau Veterinary Hospital has fulfilled a life-long dream
to have a medical facility that animals felt comfortable coming
to. You have to remember that animals don't understand what is
happening to them; so we strive extremely hard to be very gentle
and instill, through our body language and voices, trust and calmness
in our patients. A hug, a pat, a warm, soft bed, and loving words
go along way in our patients' eyes. I can honestly say that most
of my patients are my very dear friends and we both enjoy their
visits to our hospital. I have one of the best veterinary healthcare
teams around. My staff is well-educated, hard-working, and each
and every one of them strive to make our clients and patients
feel special...and that is truly the bottom line for us. We feel
that each animal and their extended family deserve the very best
care available, and if we can't provide it here, we will find
a specialist who will. Hope to see you and your special friend
in our lobby soon!!!

I was born 6-11-83 in Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. I have lived
in Yulee since I was a couple of months old. I have three dogs,
one cat, two birds, three turtles, three hermit crabs, and four
fish. I enjoy surfing, rollerblading, biking, playing any and all
sports, spending time with my two-year-old nephew, and loving all
my creatures. In my free time I have been involved with theatre,
dancing, singing in the church choir and also singing in the church
youth group. When I'm not working at Nassau Veterinary Hospital,
I am a Sunday school teacher, professional wrestler, a helper with
the church nursery, and a Yulee Lions Club bingo volunteer.
Currently I am on the P.P.R. committee at church. I am the senior
technician at Nassau Veterinary Hospital and have been working there
since I was 14. I graduated from Fernandina Beach High School with
honors and have received an Associates of Arts degree at Florida
Community College of Jacksonville. I am now enrolled at University

Ashley McDougald
Surgery technician |
Hi, my name is Ashley McDougald and I have just joined the team at Nassau Veterinary Hospital. I am 19 years old and live in Fernandina Beach with my fiancé, Jack. I have recently been the foster mom for a beautiful dog named “Avalanche”, but I lovingly call him “Avie”. I have a great love for all animals and really enjoy my job in caring for them. In my spare time, I love to run and spend time at the beach. I am considering a career in Veterinary Medicine, but in light of the fact that my wedding is coming next year, I will have to put first things first. Please come and visit us at the hospital, and I will be happy to help you with any questions you may have regarding your pet. Just know that when your pet is with us, I will treat them like one of our own….
